Contact Information. Principal's Report. Those students who travel to our sister schools in Timor Leste each year experience this first hand, the thirst for education by students who know it is their lifeline for a hope filled future. Here is what we know about the way in which an education can change lives from worldwide statistics: Education reduces poverty: - If all students in low-income countries left school with basic reading skills, million people could be lifted out of poverty.

Congratulations Dylan Zammit. What factors have we considered when looking at who would be worthy of this prestigious award? Academic achieves scholastically across a range of subjects.
Attitude willing to help others; makes selfless contributions. Personal conduct exemplary at all times. Leadership is a role model for other students. Throughout his two years at Catholic Regional College Sydenham, he has been involved in sporting events, in raising awareness and funds for social justice drives whilst maintaining high academic expectations for himself. This student epitomises the all-rounder for these reasons but it is his unassuming non-judgemental and friendly attitude that make him an asset to our College and community Today, we acknowledge and congratulate Josh Zammit.
Dylan Zammit Josh Zammit. In fact, the break over the Cup Day weekend, which includes the Monday and Cup Day on the Tuesday is our mid term point. We all need to be in agreement that this is not the end of the school year for students in Year 11; there is still much learning to be done, and work to be completed.
I wish to finish this week by once again wishing all of our Year 12 students well for the next few weeks. Rest assured that we are here to support you, please utilise the resources of your College and know that our hopes and prayers are with you. This fortnight we recognise, celebrate and congratulate Daniela Schiavo Dunlop Cluster Carla Santalucia A pleasure to teach and a good friend to fellow students. Daniela is always on time, works well in class and has a genuine interest in all of her classes.
She has applied for learning area captain and is well worth considering in this leadership role. It is with pride that we congratulate Carla Santalucia on her appointment onto the College Leadership Team as Social Justice Captain for Carla has worked tirelessly this year to help provide better lives for our most marginalised society, always with a thirst for justice and a compassionate attitude.

Congratulations on your efforts to date and keep up the good work. This year at the College, Luke has represented Winton in as many activities as he possibly could, putting his hand up for every cluster sport as well as representing the College in various SACCSS sports.
Luke is always a very considerate and polite student, with his caring and jovial nature being exemplified outside of the college when he uses his soccer skills to take time to coach younger players in his club. His positive nature is infectious to the juniors in his club and helps them to get the most out of their involvement.
Congratulations Luke, with all that you have achieved so far. Throughout her time within our community Cassie is constantly involving herself into the school life. She is the first to put her hand up to represent the college in any sport.
Cassie is willing to try and do all things. Furthermore, Cassie peers recognise her as a caring and considerate individual who always takes the time to help others in need.
Cassie was recently announced Sports Woman of the Year. We wish Cassie all the best with her end of year exams and her future studies. Well Done! According to Dr. Michael Carr-Gregg All parents, friends and relatives of a young person completing VCE should worry less about the quantity of work a student is engaging in and, instead, focus much more on their emotional wellbeing. From a parent s perspective, it is best to adopt the role of the supportive bystander, eagerly cheering from the sidelines but not being a major player and to adopt the motto I m here to help and offer any advice I can when you need it.
Parents can ensure that students stick to the basics: making sure that they eat right, get plenty of sleep and regular exercise. Positive reinforcement is the key. When you see a good effort is being made, it is useful to praise the student for it showing them that their dedication has been noticed. The statement below says a lot about helping to keep things in perspective during the exam period: At times, we create in our schools, too much hype about the final years of school and we need to put this in the context of everything else.
The VCE is an important year in [students ] lives, but it is not the most important year. It is just another stage in a student s career, and the sun and the moon and the stars do not revolve around what happens at the end of it. Students have to be focused, disciplined and work hard, but they also have to understand that they are still a part of a unit of other people and should not be entering some kind of monastic existence that takes them away from their usual responsibilities. Examinations will be held in the College Hall and will be supervised by external supervisors.
Students will be required to check the seating plan, which will be located outside the College Hall, for each examination session.
Students must wear correct school uniform to all examinations and must produce photo ID before entering the examination room. Please note that all examination decisions will be made by VCAA based on evidence provided by the school and candidate.
In all cases it is advisable to attend and examination and then submit an application for special consideration after sitting the exam. Transport Students are to find their own way to and from the College during the examination period. Students should aim to be at the College no later than 30 minutes prior to the examination commencement time. Students are to be in full school uniform summer. No student will be permitted on the College grounds if not in the correct College uniform.
This includes correct footwear. No mobile phones or electronic equipment in the examination room. No pencil cases in the examination room. Students may use a clear plastic pocket.
Clear water bottles no labels are permitted. Students MUST have photo id to enter the room. It is important to bring your student card to the examination. Students should be in the Study Hall, the Library or on the Green between examinations. Students will then have study days on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 November.
What I cannot bring into the Examination room! Refurbishment and extension of the College continued as student numbers rose and Mr Paul Daffey was appointed Principal in In , student numbers peaked at with five streams of classes in all year levels.
A new larger administration building was added and the following year all learning areas were upgraded. In a master plan for new buildings to equip the school to provide VCE was developed and in , Year 7 students enrolled at CRC Melton would become the first to complete their entire secondary education at the College. The transition to becoming a Year 7 to 12 college led to an increase in enrolments and a major building program that saw the addition of a Visual Communication and ICT Wing, new science and general classrooms and a Careers and VET area.
In , Mr Mark Sheehan was appointed Principal, in what was a time of extraordinary growth. Pastoral support is provided by visits to the College by Parish Priests, participation by the Priests in service programs, camps, regular Masses within the College, special liturgies and Reconciliation. As individuals, we are called to service and sacrifice, to take up our cross daily. Inspired by the Gospels, may we emulate your Son, through compassion and goodwill, and by sharing in the Eucharist, in solidarity with one another.
As a community, we look to welcome new members into our ellipse, which is bound together by the love of Christ, in which all are accepted and unified. Give us the strength to be true disciples in our ministry to others. In our schools, we are challenged in our learning to do our best each day. Allow us to use our God given gifts and unique talents.
May we live out the message of Jesus Christ, through encouraging education, in the North-Western suburbs of Melbourne for all young people.
