I'd suggest a service call to find out what the problem is!! Joined Jan 27, Minnie said:. Joined Jan 20, ChristmasElf said:. My DH called a place that did Appliance repairs in the phone book.
It took about 10 days for the fan part thing they put on to come in. In the meantime, I just unhooked the vent part off the back of the dryer and dried the closes that way. It would cause the laundry room to get all humid, and DH was not pleased as he thought I might ruin the wood, but the clothes got dry this way and my argument was it was only temporary.
Now this last time we were house hunting, I made sure the laundry room was right on an outside wall and the vent was right there and not 25 feet away! Good Luck!! I hope you are able to find out the problem soon. Joined Jan 8, KarenC said:. Joined Aug 25, We have that washer, but bought a cheaper dryer because the saleman said "a dryer is a dryer". I love the washer though! Couldn't believe it when the dryer was done before the next load was done washing.
Thanks for all the info. I called out someone to take a look at the vents this week. We had that problem a couple years ago, and I'm guessing its the same issue again. Hopefully they'll get it fixed. When the screen is full of lint it can prevent the proper circulation of hot air, leading to longer drying times. To maximize airflow clean your lint screen after each drying cycle.
Simply pull out the screen, remove the lint with your hand or a paper towel and replace it. Lint in debris buildup inside exhaust vents is a common cause of a dryer taking too long to dry. Clogged dryer vents can also restrict airflow in the dryer and lengthen drying times, not to mention cause dangerous dryer fires. If your dryer takes forever to dry and the vent needs cleaning, follow these steps and dryer fire prevention tips :.
Wool jumpers, silk garments, and bras may often display the do not tumble dry symbol as they could become damaged in the machine, or the material could become weakened. Silk can shrink in high temperatures and wool can pile which affects the look of the fabric. Bras may shrink which can make them uncomfortable, and wired bras may lose their shape. Step 1: Make sure your clothes are dry enough to go into the tumble dryer — they should be wet, but not dripping. If your clothing is very wet, it can take a very long time for the dryer to do its job.
If clothing is dripping, leave it in the washing machine for an extra spin cycle to remove as much excess water as possible. An average wash load should take between minutes to dry in a good tumble dryer, with an average time of 40 minutes for most clothing items.
However, items like jeans and towels will take longer to dry than other items, so may need to be kept in longer. As well as checking the two things above, check the vent hose at the back of the machine.
Make sure there are no tears or damaged areas along the hose and remove any blockages — a quick vacuum inside the tube will get rid of dust and fluff that could be blocking the heat from effectively leaving the tumble dryer. Remove the large pieces you can easily get to and then rinse the unit under a warm tap lengthways.
Another reason for your condenser dryer taking ages to dry laundry could be down to a full reservoir.
