Can you use steam cleaners on wood floors

For most types of wood floors, using a steam mop on it voids the warranty. And with steam mops, the moisture that damages the wood floors is sprayed directly onto it in a form readily absorbed by the wood. But even this method is a bad idea if your floor is comprised of wood laminate.

You can use a steam mop kept only a little damp on bamboo floors as well. Those with plastic in the grout are more likely to crack on repeated exposure to steam cleaners.

Steam cleaners with vacuum heads are an excellent choice for carpeted floors and concrete floors. When the finish gets worn away, your floor is harder to keep clean and more likely to soak up water and stains. Sweep, vacuum, and dust mop regularly, at least once a week or more often if you have pets or a busy household.

Do not use vinegar or all-purpose cleaner on floors, since they will both dull the finish. Use your manufacturer's recommended cleaner and the minimum amount of water. Any mopping should be done with a barely damp mop, never wet or soaking wet. Clean up any liquid spills immediately to avoid water damage.
