Where to find 3dsmax.ini

Message 8 of What is in that directory? I'm beginning to suspect that having max installed to a drive other than C is causing you problems. I have never seen the directories named like that. Message 9 of Got it. The Latter is right path.

One more question that in - 3dsmax Folder Two Folders are exist. Does Both are different?? In which Sense?? Only Max Design in installed in Computer.

Message 10 of They are for different versions of Max. As you can see from my screenshot I have multiple versions installed - if the configurations were not in separate directories then the settings would affect different versions which would be a bad idea. If you have a "9 - 32bit" directory then at some point I would say you have had Max 9 installed, possibly as a trial.

If you no longer have it installed you could remove those directories, if you were to reinstall it they would be recreated anyway. The plug-in will attempt to load all of the shelves specified in this JSON file when the plug-in is started. The json schema for the file is as follows:. Houdini Engine for 3ds Max. Main Page Related Pages. All Files Pages. Location All of the plug-in's configuration data is saved in a folder that 3ds Max defines as the "plugin configuration" folder.

Editing Configuration Configuration settings are automatically saved to their appropriate file when 3ds Max shuts down. As an alternative, all configuration files are editable text files and can be manually edited. User Settings User specific settings are saved in HoudiniEngine. When loading a scene and attempting to load HDAs that are used in the scene, the plugin will look in this search path if necessary for the required HDAs.

When this is enabled, the default behaviour for HDAs will be to auto recook whenever a parameter has changed. When this is enabled, the default behaviour will be for HDAs to auto recook while a slider is dragged. Loocas Duber also pointed out to me that i could use 3ds max command-line swith to include a other ini file.

So i guess either way i should be able to figure out a way of implementing a centralized ini. Woah… Thanks for the tip Mike. Where did you find the cheese? Hi, I work in a small archviz studio and i am trying to streamline workflow and settings etc. Perhaps i need to set max to look for the ini file the root of the max install? Any help is more then welcome.
